Essays.... :/

This week was the due date of our first major essay of the semester, but to be more specific, it was one of the first essays where i had to prove the differences of two words, main idea and topic, that were, what i first believed to be the same. So not only did i have to learn what i was going to be writing about, also had to be able to practice it by using three songs as my examples. Basically saying, i used three songs to prove the differences between the two words.

When i started to break down all three of my songs, i started to see exactly how a common topic tied all three songs together, for me, my topic was based off relationships. As for my main idea concept, each song may have had a connection dealing with relationships, but each song had a different point of view or perspective of relationships.

With literature, we may think that words are similar, but in reality, they have a tremendous difference....

"Barkadas" or Group work

To me, when we were working in our "Barkadas" or groups, i felt most intuned with the activity. When working with my peers, it really allows me to get to know each and everyone a bit more each time. With me personally being the "clown" of the group, everyone seems to get a good laugh when we meet up, but don't get me wrong, I'm still hardworking and a devoted member of the group.

Motivation

Motivation is best achieved with incentives or rewards. Specifically saying, perform a task and receive a bonus or award. So with that though of rewarding people for certain task leads to the idea of how to balance out the reward with the difficulty of the task. For example, giving a big incentives for mechanical tasks, workers showed their best performance, while as people left with mind challenging task resulted with poorer performance. Once people can find a way to balance out bonuses or incentives for certain task, the world would be more Influenced to complete the task at hand to the best of their abilities.

Peer Review :]

In Wednesdays class session, I walked into class with pure excitement. I was going to be allowed to really interact with my group in class, but also get a nice critique and peer edit from my group and peers. With my experience from prior English class at Grossmont College, I was very eager to start spreading my ideas for this essay.

When we started circulating the papers among our groups, I started to develop many ideas to how I better my essay, even from the first sentences of my peer's essays. with diversity among essays, it opens my eyes to different perspectives that people can view the same essay. So now that I have given and received ways to improve my essay, not just me, but my class will take the advantage of manifesting our premature ideas to more  concrete and specific essays. To get our papers from the "Kindergarten" stage to maturing them to college level  requires work and a open mind. Thing is, as a Bayan Scholar, I'm starting to see how not only can I use myself a resource for success but the people around me, the community around me, and all the opportunities that open up around me. Cheers to Peer Review !!!!

Hikari- classical and just an Awesome cover!

I'm a big fan of the Kingdom Heart video game saga and how it relates to characters from my childhood within the Disney World. Here's is one of the most well known song produced by the game, Hikari (cover, piano and Violin) Enjoy!!!

2nd: Topics/activities

On Friday morning during our retreat, our class did a few activities to really break the barrier between colleagues. Social activities that would show differences, but also show new ideas and point of views. First activity was based on communication through first eye contact, greeting with voice, then appropriate touching. This allowed shy individuals to really introduce themselves to other classmates. With our second activity, Four Corners, targeted on how students felt about certain topics and questions, such as sexuality/gender, social class, race/ethnicity, and lastly faith/religion. From my perspective, this activity not only allowed me to see different views from my peers but also better my understanding of different topics and issues. The whole retreat in my opinion was an overall success, from the abundance of food to all the social interactions in class made the experience of meeting new and awesome people much greater. Go Bayan!!!
